Around the Firehouse
Just off Maple Avenue in Windsor, CT, you will find a small old brick building. Next to the main door stands a bright red fire hydrant. Odd? Not if you know the history of the building.
In 1882 the land on which the building stands, was donated to the town of Windsor provided a firehouse would be built on it. Masons were hired and Windsor's first formal firehouse was a fact. The brick building served as a firehouse until 1939 when it was sold by the town to a private owner. If walls could speak.....the building has had many different purposes and now is the home of Gottier Investments.
Walk inside one day and get a feel of this beautiful old Victorian style firehouse, look at the historic pictures and guess where the fire engine was stationed. We look forward to seeing you!
